when I learnt the Thattadavu and Naatadavu, both the adavus had 8 steps. I only see 7 here. I'm not sure if I'm missing them or they come under a different adavu in your series.
Also, the thala theory is new to me so I felt the first session to be a little not in sync/continuation (It could just be me as I am a beginner). I wanted to know if that feeling is normal or I might have to lookup more content to understand better in detail.

The number of steps actually do not matter. What matters is what it enables you to do thereafter. The Raadha Kalpa method is devised such that Adavus are neutral, and you can add physical accents later.
The 8 you would have learned might have included just doubling the right and left, which cognitively is quite simple. So we don't have it in our system. But you will see that there are many more variations than what is usual of Sarikal advau, pakkadavu, kuditta mettadavu etc.
Can you please try to explain what you didn't understand in the first lecture? I can then try to make it simpler for you. Or I will write content that supports it.
You should be able to understand it, if you listen closely and take notes. Maybe watch again?

My apologies for a delayed response to this thread. I did watch it again and I was able to make more sense. I did google a little for better understanding.
However I seem to understand all the terms separately but when I put them all together I get a little confused. Any thoughts on how to process this ma'am?

I think this is common when you begin learning Tala Theory. Don't worry. You will begin to make sense of it all as the other lectures get added.
